Hotdrop - Installation Tips

Having connection issues?

1. Ensure each device is a minimum of 1 inch apart from each other. If they are too close together they can interfere each others radio signal.

2.  Both the Hotdrop and the Gateway communicate via their Antennae.  They both utilize a figure eight polar pattern. For best connectivity, and reduction to the Faraday Cage Effect the antennae should be positioned in a way in which these line up. It does not matter if they are right side up (photo above) or down (photo below) .

3.  When installing a Hotdrop its always helpful to have your Clamp Meter on board. The Hotdrop needs a minimum current of 1.2 amps to harvest enough energy to transmit a message back to the Tether platform. If you are having trouble connecting check the power draw with your Clamp Meter. If the current is less than 1.2 amp the transmission will be intermittent, this can happen on low power circuits, such as, some lighting circuits.
